В 2016 году Генпрокуратура добилась наказания для 20 000 чиновников, нарушивших порядок работы с обращениями граждан.При этом, 6 000 чиновников были оштрафованы в административном порядке на 30 млн рублей, еще 14 000 человек получили выговоры и дисциплинарные взыскания. Нарушениями считаются волокита при рассмотрении жалобы, ее игнорирование или «формальные немотивированные ответы» на обращения.
